Day Sixteen Hundred and Thirty-Five

The Poo was NOT His Debut

It was 9:17 when I heard Amelia's cries from my shower. I looked over and saw her sitting in this. Awesome. I hopped out of the shower and swooped her up. Today of all days.

I wasn't sure if this was just bad luck or a bad omen of what the afternoon might bring. I prayed for peace. But then the ice cream carton that I scooped the poop up with? It completely busted as I was transferring the baby dung to the toilet. Because: of course. Poop. Everywhere. ALL over the bathroom floor. The toilet. The scale. The rugs. The bathtub. The toys. Me. Ok, awesome.

Bottle of wine, anyone? Make that two. Just give me a moment to shower off the doo from my legs...please.

Between the poop and this onesie (which took me TWO hours to make - not ok), this mom was about to lose it. So close. But then: this. And all was good in the world. Dad just needed to take Amelia's (and Satchel Paige's) advice. Or else.

Because I wasn't about ready to handle a bad game.

"Just take the ball and throw strikes. Home plate don't move."

He took their advice and thankfully, Adam's Spring Training (starting) debut went well. He threw 17 pitches - 16 of them fastballs, which was his plan for the day. In two innings pitched, he gave up two hits - one of them a home run. Not worried by it, he finished his debut having surrendered one run with his velocity sitting between 93-96MPH.

Adam is currently in contention for a spot in the Marlins' rotation out of camp. He'd love nothing more than to break camp with the team and is working his tail off to see that achieved. However, we know that wherever the Lord has us this season, it will be for Him and for His glory.

Hey look Amelia...and Amelia's poop...and Amelia's onesie...and 30 minute car ride...and food in Amelia's tummy...and rest in Amelia's eyes. I win. Ok? I really do. My clothes match. My hair is done. Your onesie is adorable. You're fed, bathed, and napped. We made it to the game on time. And the poop towels are in the wash.

Holy smokes. This mom thing is a doozie sometimes.

Where's that bottle of wine I asked for?
____________

Because Adam's never started in Big League camp before, we're not sure if that means he pitches every fifth day like he does during regular season, or on some sort of condensed version. Once we know more, I'll give an update. Until then, here's an article from yesterday about Adam :)
