The Crib
Yes.
Yes, your eyes are seeing the same things mine did yesterday. Go ahead, squint a little harder. Maybe try rubbing your eyes. Either way, you're right. You called it. You're seeing this. And it's TOTALLY REAL. Amelia is in HER crib. ASLEEP!!!
I don't know if I ever thought I'd see the day. But boy, were Dada and I happy when we walked out of the room. We might have even done a victory dance together on the way out. A few claps. A high-five. Oh yeah! In her whole entire life, she's never had a crib. NEVER. She's either slept on our bed, on me, or on the VERY rare occasion, in her pack n' play. But never in her own crib. Because we didn't have one and traveling with one is cause for laughter in the baseball world. And so, here we are. At 3 days shy of her first birthday, Amelia finally let me put her down into her crib. Though she was most definitely asleep when the transition happened...it happened and that's victory enough for this Mama. For now, we'll rock her to sleep and then place her (very methodically) into her crib for naps. Once she gets the hang of it, we might try putting her in there awake and seeing what she does. Adam and I have an extreme discomfort with the cry-it-out method, so if she cries, we'll be there in a jiffy, but we're hoping that with a gradual shift in sleeping habits, she'll be at least napping in her crib like a pro in no time. Now as far as sleeping in it during the night...uh, no. Not yet for this Mama and Dada!! She's still nursing two to three times a night and there's no way I'm getting myself out of bed at 2AM to feed her. And then five. No thank you! But for now, we're happy with how things are going with Amelia and totally proud of her crib efforts yesterday! Bravo, my Lovey!
